There are a few things to bear in mind when it comes to safe browsing. The whole issue of being safe online depends on who it is best to trust and what happens if everyone trusts the same entity.
If everyone trusts the same person then that person or entity becomes so valuable that everyone invests in that person and they are forced by the investors to focus on their investments rather than the customer focus as there is no verifiable competition and so the whole world gets terrible service.
If everyone trusts all the entities equally, then it allows those with more obscure opinions and standards to affect more people than they perhaps should and it teaches people about selection if they are able to learn in those terms. It may just enable a single type of thinking to evolve or it may increase diversity as we see in nature. After all, there are snakes and snails in nature and the diversity seems to work very well.
Backstabbing and plotting is, after all in the nature of those already in power. They are the ones who will profit from uncertainty that will prevent people from exploring more fringe providers.
